im in day seven of stims for IVF #1 (300 menapur, 300 bravelle). after my monitoring appt on friday, the RE said it looks like i am not responding as anticipated and he'll decide on monday if we should continue with this protocol after one final US/BW.
im really disappointed-- but surprised because of all the things i had considered could go wrong, i did not anticipate not reacting to the drugs.
my most recent bloodwork pre-ivf came back with low AMH but our main reason for pursuing IVF was due to MFI.
the RE mentioned if the cycle is canceled, we could try another protocol (lupron flare) or consider donor eggs.
i'm 31 and have always been regular so to jump right to donor eggs seems a little drastic. .
has this happened to anyone? did anyone with AMH issues have luck with another protocol?
Re: ivf #1 cancelled before ER? what happens next?
Our first long lupron cycle was canceled on day 9 of stims. My AMH (last tested) was .92, so it's on the low side. My FSH is high and antral follicle count is on the low side, too. My diagnosis is definitely DOR. We learned quickly that long lupron isn't right for me. I sometimes wonder why we tried it at all with my numbers.
On our first cycle, like you said, I never thought for a minute that I'd just not respond. Right? Because IVF was supposed to fix everything? That's what I thought at least.
You have age on your side so I think talking about DE at this point is definitely premature. What protocol are you on? After our canceled cycle, we changed up the protocol to estrogen priming and added human growth hormone. I had a much better response and actually got pregnant, so we considered it a big success.
Sounds to me like you need a protocol change up. So sorry this may be happening to you. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that it doesn't. But just know that you're not alone. Many of us here have been canceled and have gone on to make significant and helpful protocol changes.

You can see my numbers in my siggy; I was cancelled after ER (didn't make it to transfer). My protocol just barely got me to ER, and either fried my eggs doing it, or my eggs are bad to begin with.
I 'm getting a second opinion in early March, but I believe my best option is to go with Donor Eggs. I probably have about a 10% chance of getting PG with my OE per IVF cycle, and it would take $10k OOP to do so this next cycle (I still have some insurance coverage left), and the price would go up afterwards. On the other hand, I could spend $30k and have a guarantee to get PG with Donor Eggs--so why keep torturing myself? It is hard to give up the hope for a genetic child; but the time and expense it would take is high, and there's so little chance it would work.

Thanks for all the kinds words of hope! I just did tonight's injection-- I'm hoping I'm a late responder and my estrogen is going through the roof as I write this!
Glad to hear others have been successful with different protocols. I just never thought I'd have conversations with DH regarding DEs, adoption, heck, even IVF! Thank goodness science is available to help us... but sometimes it seems like should be easier!
