I completely understand the "When is the baby due?" question, and the shocked looks I get when I reply that she was due on the 17th. But if one more person tells me something like "Oooh, you should have her on Wednesday, it's my son's best friend's neighbor's dog's birthday," I'm going to seriously flip out and start kicking shins.
Vent over.
Re: As if I had a choice (brief vent)
This is funny to me, because I just had a conversation with a friend about a lady who said something similar to me:
I was at a gelato shop here in Philly and this lady comes up to me and asks "When are you due?" No hello, no nothing. Just "When are you due?" So I tell her the date and she says to me, "OH! That's GREAT! If you have your baby on your due date, they'll have the same birthday as Smokey Robinson!"
Thank goodness my husband came over with my gelato because I was only about three seconds away from busting out in laughter. I couldn't believe that random comment! Of course, now that my due date has passed, I'm checking this celebrity birthday website to see who Baby will share a birthday with, only because it won't be Smokey Robinson...who WILL it be?
I feel your pain, some people are so opinionated. I felt this way when people told me "there must be twins in there" ...seriously I was a plus size before BFP do you really think I am going to be tiny at 9 months.
I got tired of answering the when are you due question, so I'd say "any day now"... and let them go on wondering.
have that baby already!
You should/shouldnt have her on ____ day
what's taking so long
ALL of these plus every other comment about birth just annoys me at this point, I am proud of myself for not slapping some people.
worst one yet, lady at work: " have you been nesting" -no, I am to exhausted after work to do more than cook dinner and clean up after that. -"Well, no wonder you havent had her, you will never have that baby if you dont nest, you have to nest"-- my response--blank look (so if I never nest, I will be pregnant FOREVER.....never heard of this)
Didn't you know? Due dates are an exact science and 100% every time. AND we, as the carriers of the little one, control when it will arrive.
I've had about 5 people tell me when baby CAN'T come (this weekend). Umm, I'll do my best?
I think people are just generally excited for us and don't always realize what they are saying sounds silly (or that we've already heard it a million times).
