With my first, it was the most horrific back ache that NEVER went away. He was born OP ("sunny side up" or face up instead of face down).
With this pregnancy, I've had some back labor and it's extremely uncomfortable and changing positions doesn't help. I've been having on and off back labor since Christmas. I could smack my doctor if he tells me again "it happens with the second one" or some other statement of the like. I'm still waiting for it to turn into the real deal though.
My little girl was sunny side up all along and flipped right before I started pushing. 24+ hours of back labor was pretty terrible. I tried to go natural but opted for the epidural...too much for me to handle!

I had back labor. It felt like menstral cramps (i always got my cramps in my back, never my front). I was in active labor and had no idea because i only had some back pain that I thought was regular pregnancy pain. It started to get way more intense as labor went on, no position was comfortable and the stupid straps on the belly monitors only made it worse. The epidural cured it but then it wore off by the time I was transitioning!
Anyway, its not fun, but just feels like terrible menstral cramps.
