First time mom, how to break the news?

I'm going to be a first time Mom! we are only 6 weeks! but I'm trying to figure out how to tell all my moms family back easy, aka grandma, aunts, uncles, etc. because they are very strict, and since we aren't married yet.  I'm looking for a nice way to tell them.  Also, the other big one, How to tell your daddy that his babygirl is having a baby...... I'm just worried he'll be upset or wish i had waited or whatever...
Any cute suggestions to take their mind of the fact, and just appreciate the life we're bringing to the world?? (P.S. my immediate family is in AZ so they can't see me growing, etc.)

  • we found out around valentine's so we did valentine's cards. Easter is coming up....maybe you could incorporate something with that...like easter eggs with a little plastic baby in it.

  • Or maybe a cute Grandparents frame with a pic of the sono in it.  We were not yet married when I got pregnant but we were planning on it and we are older. I think if you kind of make it about them being grandparents it is more exciting for them.  But understand that if they are going to be mad, they are just going to be that way,  Just be confident in your joy and they will come around.

  • I'm six weeks with our first too!  We just told our parents last night...My parents live out of state, so we had some fun pictures taken with baby shoes and our feet that said "Our family is growing by two feet" and other fun creative ones.  We did FaceTime with them and started with small talk, and in the midst of it told them we had taken some fun pics and wanted them to see...so we emailed them and told them to pull them up on the computer.  Their reaction was priceless!!!!  My Dad was like, is this, are you?  And then they both started crying.  It was a really sweet moment and made it all seem more "real" having told both sets of parents.  Have fun, and Congratulations!!!!

  • We did picture frames at christmas time!! What I found is that if you go in with a positive attitude and talk about how happy this makes you and your significant other and continue to focus on the positives then they don't usually say much negative stuff. Easter would be a good hliday though and you should have your sonogram pics then so you could do easter cards or easter frames with the pics in them!!
