Made a deal with the devil

My husband and I can rarely (and I mean rarely) agree on names or nursery ideas for children. Today, I made a deal with him that he could chose the nursery theme for a boy if I got to chose the name.So if its a boy, it will be a basketball themed nursery and his name will by Easton. I was really looking forward to an underwater theme that my friend was going to free-hand paint for us too...boo!

(Now I'm really hoping for a girl!! No deals have been made for that gender haha)

  • I  think the name is more important than the theme. Sounds like a good deal!

I agree! And he could've come up with something much worse than basketball : ) Sounds like you got a good deal.

And eventually your child will want to choose the theme for his room anyway. He has to live with his name forever unless he's up for legal help.

Then and now. How did my boy get so big?

  • Do an underwater basketball theme - bright colorful fish shooting hops! "Fishketball"

  • Haha.

I agree with some of the other posters...the name is more important than the theme! At least in my opinion :)

  • While I agree that you got the better deal, I would worry that someone would become resentful about having no say in their child's name.

My H and I really had to work hard to find common ground on girl's names, but I am glad we went through the rounds and rounds of names. Now we both have a name we love (though for different reasons). I don't mean that to sound trite. It was hard, but I would rather go through the stress than striking a deal. (Looking more at long term than short term.)

  • The name is WAY more important. I say let him pick whatever theme his little heart desires. You won this one- lol.
