Anyone give themselves PIO?

DH does my shot every night, and he's super good at it. The longer I'm on it the more difficult it's getting though.

He's out of town next week, and I really don't have any family or anything close by to do it. I'm on 2cc's, so it's a loooooong shot to do myself, you know?

Any tips/tricks?

I had to give myself several. I watched some YouTube videos for examples and then went for it! It's not as bad as it seems, I promise.

I was planning on hitting up YouTube! I know it's going to be the build up that will stress me out and the actual shot won't be that bad. I can be such a baby sometimes!

I did almost all my own PIO shots myself, due to DH's work schedule. What helped me is my nurse drew sharpie circles on my butt so I knew where to aim. I would have DH retrace them! I would just get everything ready, and bend over in front of the full length mirror. It always worked for me!!!

I had dh do it a few times. I agree that you tube videos help. I was on pio til week 12. I did shots at work. I just told myself...you do what you gotta do, suck it up an put your big girl panties on..or pull them down...lol you can do it!

I had to give myself a few while traveling for work. I gave the shot with my back turned towards a walled or full length mirror and twisted my body a bit to the side to get a good aim on that same side. Spread the skin with one hand and give the shot with the other. It wasn't as bad as i psyched myself out to be.

I did a lot of my own because DH was travelling.  I watched some youtube videos to help me figure locations.  I found laying on my stomach worked  better than standing up to do it. (honestly, the ones I did myself usually hurt less than when DH did them)

The first couple times I tried standing I started to get a little light headed halfway through

I had to give my self a few early on, but it does get harder.  I was lucky to move closer to my sister and she did it for me!! 

You should check to see if your local CVS/Walgreens/Kroger's have a clinic- I have heard they will do it for you as long as you bring your perscription and needle.  I didn't have to go that route, but it may be a good option for you.

Thanks for all of the tips! I might try to do it myself on a day he's still here just to be sure I don't freak out when he's gone.

I had to give them to myself when DH was out of town or went to bed before me and when I was on work trips.  It wasn't bad.  I leaned over the sink at an angle so I could see my hip in the mirror.
