Food Allergy

Mustard allergy?

I just gave my twins dinner. It was all foods that they've had before, all things I felt were safe for DD. The sauce on their meal had dijon mustard in it. Shortly after she began eating, she started scratching her face and neck. It was all blotchy and red. I cleaned her hands and face, waited a couple minutes to see if it went away. It didn't, so I gave her some benadryl.  Her meal consisted of ground turkey, carrots, peas, and butternut squash. All things she eats regularly with no problem. The only new food is mustard. Has anyone heard of a mustard allergy?  She is allergic to eggs, wheat, peanuts and tree nuts.

Really, mustard? Ugh!

Re: Mustard allergy?

  • mustard seed is a known allergen, and i assume plain mustard could be as well...

  • I am allergic to mustard. I avoided it all my life, much to my mustard-loving parent's dismay, and found out as an adult that it was an allergy. It is very possible your LO is allergic to mustard. But that's ok. Its easily avoidable.
