My son's name is Eli - we like the name Madilyn, but then I thought about Adeline and wondered if it sounds better with Eli (vowel names). Plus, I kinda liked how "Eli" is in the name Adeline.
Also, for people who have names like Madeline, Adeline, Caroline, etc....do you find people aren't sure if it's "LINE" or "LYNN" at the end? I am tempted to spell Madilyn with a "yn" instead of Madeline because I hate correcting people. What is the most common pronunciation for these type of names? I am wanting the LYNN ending and so I start to add the "Y' in there - but for the record, I hate trendy spellings. Like, I have a friend who spelled her kid's name "Londyn" and another "Jasmyn" and I just don't get it, lol.
Re: What about Adeline with Eli?
The daughter we have cooking right now will be Ella, and my other fave choice was Adeline. If we have another girl, I think that will definitely be her name.
So, since Eli has the same sounds as Ella, I think that Eli and Adeline sound very nice together.
I pronounced Madeline, Mad-eh-LINE and Madilyn, Mad-eh-LYNN
Caroline is Cah-ro-LINE, Carolyn is Cah-ro-LYNN.

DD is Adelyn because I was afraid everyone would say LINE with the alternate spelling. So far nobody has ever gotten her name wrong- at Dr'soffices etc. they always pronounce it correctly when calling her name based on the spelling.
The spelling of Adeline also reminded me too much of Adrenaline.
