Two Under 2

Hated the Ready2Grow stroller and already returned it!

Well ladies, you were all right.  The front seat for the toddler of the Graco Ready2Grow Stroller is ridiculously small and even for my 2 yr old who is quite petite, there wasn't enough head room OR seat room for her. Seat depth was VERY shallow!! Also, where you would "click in" the infant seat was a nightmare to use.  The seat does NOT easily click in AT ALL and it was majorly frustrating to try to get it in properly.  And the seat  facing the parent for the infant (when car seat is not in use) doesn't even recline, doesn't make any sense.

Also, the stroller weighs 37.8 POUNDS without children in it. Add in your average toddler and infant + carseat and you are looking at 80+lbs to PUSH.  I don't know why I didn't look this information up before I bought it....but I digress.  Is Graco crazy?  What mom can easily use a stroller like that, not to mention lift in and out of her car with ease?  I workout and am strong, and I really had a hard time trying to lift it, let alone fold it!

All in all, I was totally dissapointed.  I returned it and I am waiting for the Baby Jogger 2012 City Mini Double GT which I plan to use without the carseat adapter, baby will just lay flat.  (that stroller only weighs 26lbs, what a difference!)

Hope this helps some of you!

  • This will help me!

I just started looking for a double stroller.  When DD#2 is born, DD1 will be 18 months old.  I know she isn't ready for a sit n stand only stroller, but was looking at the Ready 2 Grow because it can turn into one....I think.  I have looked at so many I get confused!

Back to square one I guess...

I hear you, my kids are 21 mos apart and I'm in the same boat. I liked the Ready2Grow for the same reason...but trust me, it's not worth it and sooo heavy it's just not practical!!

I'm getting a side by side baby jogger city mini double--baby can lie FLAT in it...which is what I plan to do once I get it.  He will be about 5 mos old at that time.

  • Awesome.  I will look at that one.

I always assumed I needed a tandem just for ease.  Does the baby jogger city mini work with a car seat adapter?

  • We tried it in BBB last weekend with DD in the front and a baby carrier in the back. Hated it due to a number of reasons. Felt it was flimsy and way to much thrown together, wouldn't last long, and extremely bulk. We ended up choosing the Joovy Ergo Caboose as of now.
  • Thank you for this! Hubby was pushing to get this stroller but I kept telling him the seats look too small. I'm glad to hear to that someone else agrees.

Still can't figure out if we're getting a tandem or a side by side. Thanks for your review!

  • We just ordered it and are waiting for it to come in.

We tried it in the store with my 16 month old and the car seat and felt it was ok.  We also bought a baby jogger double one off Craig's list, and older model, and plan to use this once the little one gets bigger.  I like that this one turns into a stand and ride though, and think we'll probably use it that way when our 16 month old gets a little older.

I do agree that it doesn't seem as well thought out, I just liked that I could put the baby seat in it for now and strap in my son and then use it as a stand and ride later.

I think it might work better for me because mine are only 13 months apart and still little enough for now! At least I'm hoping

  • I noticed this when DH & I went stroller shopping.  Placed my lo in the front seat and she would never be able to take a nap in it

the Graco tandem strollers are more for twins than 2 under 2

  • Interesting, I just looked at this today.  I didn't have DS w/ me so I didn't really try it out but when I pushed it up & down the aisle I was surprised w/ how easy it moved.  Thanks for your review!  I really want a Bumbleride Indie Twin but am having a hard time justifying the cost (to myself & H).

  • This is exactly how I felt about the Kolcraft Contours Tandem. 44lbs? No thanks! The BJCM is 22-26lbs depending on the year. So much better!

  • Ahh thanks for the update. I've been seriously considering the R2G but haven't tried it w/ my DD so this is helpful.  Plus w/ 2 kids, a car seat, diaper bag and all the extra crap I have to carry there's no way I want to be lifting a 40lb stroller?

  • If you're looking for a lightweight stroller that's affordable, I really love our combi twin sport. After a year of use its held up great. It only weighs 22lbs. It's so easy to fold up and store. You can get it for under $200 on sale at BRU.

  • Shoot. We were looking into the R2G stroller as well and I've heard both good and bad things about it.  Hmmmm...will look into the Joovy and the other as well.

    THANKS!!
