Puffy eye (update)

Not sure if anyone's around this late.. DD woke up this morning with a slightly puffy eye.  I thought it was because she's been sick, her eyes have been watery, so I thought it was just sort of from sleeping on that side - I wasn't really paying attention because it was so slight.

Anyway by the time it hit dinner and then bedtime, and her eye got a lot puffier, so it's not open as much as the other, and it practically looked like she'd been hit in the eye (in terms of the puffiness).  I don't think her actual eyeball is red, and it doesn't seem to be oozing or drippy (barely even crusty).

I looked on the internet and I'm so confused.  I'll call the nurses line as soon as they open tomorrow.  I just don't understand how to tell if it is pink eye or not, she does have a cold.. I don't know if she's contagious or what.  Again, I'm going to call the nurse's line in the morning, but I'm trying to predict tomorrow's schedule, if anyone has any thoughts/guesses I would appreciate it.

** we are starting with a kid's antihistamine, and if DD gets any kind of discharge or fever, then we go to the antibiotics.  Not pink eye, as far as we can tell.  Basically the Dr couldn't figure it out, so we're hoping the antihistamines work.

Re: Puffy eye (update)

  • Ya, doesn't sound like pink eye. Maybe allergies, irritation, or stye?

  • I don't think it's pink eye, but maybe an allergic reaction or irritation of some sort. My eyes blow up like that if I happen to get cat dander in them. Hope it's better this morning.
