Trying to Get Pregnant

Left ovary higher than right?

So I had an ultrasound today (day 142 without a period) to look for cysts and the tech mentioned that my left ovary is higher than the right... weird. Ive googled it as much as I tried to wait til I see my doc on the 28th for results so I wouldnt totally freak myself out if I read something bad, but didnt find much info. Anyone else have lopsided ovaries?!

Re: Left ovary higher than right?

  • My RE told me they move around...my impression was that it is normal, but I could be wrong.

  • I had an ultrasound a couple of weeks ago and it took the tech forever to find my left ovary...she actually couldn't even find it until she did the transvaginal part of the ultrasound. Try not to freak out. I'm sure it means nothing and the doc will be able to give you more info. Good luck!
  • Heck I only have one ovary, so I'm sure having one a little higher won't be a problem.
  • It's normal. My right one likes to hide sometimes.

Thats when she found mine, after it felt like she was using a rusty knife she got me to push down super hard on it (ovary) and it felt less like hurty death but was still pretty darn uncomfy. Im trying to tell myself its normal but the wait til my doc appt. is going to be brutal =(

  • Damn you ladies are quick to reply, apparently I took too long typing my last post and missed a bunch of replies.

Youve got me pretty confident its normal. Thank you! Thats going to make the next week and a half a little less painful

If you were having an external u/s done then it's very common for ovaries or parts to be hard to "find." The transvaginal u/s are typically better for looking at girly parts before and in early pregnancy.

  • Normal. My uterus was tilted over to one side and my ovaries were not exactly symmetrical on my HSG. The radiologist and my RE said they move around some and it is normal.
Hope you get through with that long cycle soon!
