He is probably going to tell you that "it is recommended" or something vague like my OB did. He asked me yesterday if I had one and I told him I wasn't doing it and he didn't seem that concerned.

Yeah that's what I did and he said yes. So I listened to him, I personally wouldn't listen to most of the "advice" on here, so many times it's fueled by passionate opinions.
I had never had one before and they were fairly persistent. Their reasoning is that the baby can't get one until they are six months old, but thye have a chance of getting the antibodies from me....so it was for the baby.
My doc recommended it for those who will be interacting a lot with the baby. The kid will be born right smack in the middle of flu season, and even w/ my antibodies, he still won't have a great defense against even a mild case.
Hahaha. I was just talking with DH about this. A member of a local group that I belong to asked a bunch of internet strangers what their advice was on the subject AFTER her dr. already gave her "a pamphlet with very good information supporting the flu shot". Huh?

My doc said that this years shot is 2 new strains that you were highly unlikely to get and that you would get more sick from actually getting the shot. But he's a crazy natural guy so who the f knows.
I had never had one until this year and the nurse at the OB office made me feel like I pretty much had no choice. "It's highly recommended" and all that crap.
My OB was pretty pro-shot, but gave me a lot of the vague "recommended by the AAP and ACOG" blah blah blah. I'm going to be spending a lot of time over at the hospital during flu season b/w childbirth classes and hospital tours, etc. Plus, my husband and I commute to work on public transit in NYC which is a festering breeding ground for germs.
My husband got one too ... just something else to think about for those of you who are getting the shot.
Or you could just do your own research? I'm glad I did mine, because the idiot nurse who gave me my shot tried to tell me they recommended flu-mist for pregnant women. It must have been opposite day at the clinic, because flu-mist is contraindicated during pregnancy. However, since I'm not an idiot and I don't blindly trust anyone in a lab coat, I declined and got my preservative-free shot.

Have fun with the sore arm if you do get it.
Mine is REALLY strong on getting it. I would have had trouble leaving w/out one, but it was fine w/ me b/c I get them free at work almost every year.
Just FYI, I've gotten the flu shot several times over the years and have never had any problems with it.
