I used Zofran during last pg. and had horrible constipation. I tried to avoid it this pg. but finally gave in to see if it would help. It has helped some. But now I feel like my intestines are full of dried cement. I take a Colace with every Zofran pill and I've been eating Fiber One bars and trying to eat lots of fruit etc. But holy moly! After a huge push session last night I was able to produce 3 little rabbit turds. Seriously? I was hoping it would be better this time around.
How are you ladies pooping? Are you pooping? If so, please share your magical solution.
Re: Zofran users come in! How are you pooping?!?!
I am blessed to have inherited crazy nausea during pregnancies. It kicks in early, hard and, with my last one, never really went away. I remember feeling the nausea magically disappear when I delivered the placenta with DD. Somehow I thought a 2nd time around it might be different. But when it kicked in at 4 1/2 weeks and just kept getting more and more intense I started trying everything in my power to try.
I've been getting acupuncture 2x a week and Vitamin B injections 2-3 times a week. Taking Benedryl and B6 as well as Vitamin K. Eating every 40 minutes etc. etc. And still barftastic. So I finally caved and asked my naturopath for a Zofran Rx. He knew I was seriously miserable to ask him for a western med of that caliber and agreed. It has toned the nausea WAY down. Much more than last pg. However, the constipation is almost instantaneous.
It's totally worth a try, and I've heard some people don't actually get the constipation. But even if you don't use it every day, having it as a standby is sort of a nice option.
I hope it works for you!
I've been using Zofran for a few weeks now and it has helped wonders. i can actually eat now. However going to the bathroom is a chore.
I started drinking prune juice every other day and it did help a bit but i never felt like it was a complete sucess.
For valentines day we went to a steak house and since I cant even handle the smell of meat right now i just had a huge salad. the following day i went to the bathroom and i felt completly cleaned out.
The title of your post made me LOL.
That being said, I feel for you ladies and what you've said has helped me out. I'm going to ask for a prescription for this tomorrow, (my M/S was AWFUL, but seems to have subsided, but I'd still like some Zofran on standby.)
At least now I know what the ramifications are if I choose Zofran over nausea! Best of luck girls!
After trying several other things with only moderate success, my doctor told me to take magnesium. I take 2 or 3 magnesium a day (based on whether I remember all three) - and it is a magnesium that only says 1 a day. It plus my normal amount of fiber has made ALL the difference.
This may be icky, but after all the blood sweat and tears that has gone into my pooping the last month or so, I had a perfectly formed perfectly normal poop the other day and I actually had to call my husband in to see. He was so proud.
Miralax is safe during pregnancy. The question is whether you can get it down or not.
Also, lots of luck with the anal fissure. I have had two anal fistulas, which required two surgeries. OMG painful. I always worry when I have weird bowels now (though the fistulas in my case were caused by....ongoing spasmic diarrhea caused by metformin, not so much pushing).
I had the same issue. I seriously did not have more than a few rocks for two weeks! Here's what I did:
One morning, I decided that I would eat nothing but prune juice, fruit, fruit juice, yogurt, water, and sprite until I had a decent BM.
After three large glasses of prune juice, a box of blueberries, two oranges, a few glasses of orange juice and some V8 Fusion, I could not stop going to the bathroom. It was amazing.
I'm drinking a glass of prune juice in the morning and in the afternoon to maintain it.
Good Luck!
