Maybe I'm just a prude, but I would never put B in this. IMO, I find this highly inappropriate for a 1 y/o. It's going to be major drama b/c I want to return it, but I don't care. And she spent 55$ on it, that's crazy. IDK, I don't want my baby in a string bikini, and the sheer tie around does not make it better! It's really skimpy not to mention impractical. Ha, and she'd be really rocking it with the swimmy diaper on, gaud. ::vent over::

Yeah that's weird. But to avoid major drama (and since you didnt pay for it) I would just buy a matching rash guard from target and put her in the bottoms and just say the top kept slipping too much.

Funny what some people think is cute on girls. I'd probably be a ninny and just say, "Oh, we tried it the other day, and it wouldn't stay in place on her." Can't see how that bottom would stay over a swimmy diaper, anyway.

I'm with you. My daughter would not get to wear that and I would either 1) return it or 2) leave it in the closet to collect dust until the next garage sale.

Ok now that I got that out, I would just tell her that it's impractical for a child wearing a swim diaper to have a bathing suit that tiny.  What point would those little bottoms serve anyway?

That is so odd that someone would think that would be "cute" on a baby! It is sexy, not cute and babies or young girls are not supposed to be sexy. That suit would be appropriate on a 20 yr old swim model....that is all!

According to DH, neither of our girls will wear a bikini until they are 18 (at which point he hopes they will decide to become nuns, and won't need to wear any kind of bathing suit ever again lol).

And seriously $55 on pretty much anything for a kid is outrageous!

Honestly, I would be upfront and say that we appreciate the thought but dh and I just didn't think it was appropriate for her to wear if she questions why she doesnt see her wearing it. Saying you like it but blah blah blah just means you could get another one next year. But dh and I are conservative in what we have dd wear. She has a regular 1-piece for indoor swimming and I usually put her in a rash guard for outdoor since she is so fair. I don't think a 2 piece is all that cute, but she certainly won't be in a triangle top until she is much older.

If you're a prude, I'm a prude.  I would tell SIL that it kept slipping too or I would throw it in the back of the closet.

Thanks! DH returned it today. He was as shocked as I was. I just e-mailed her and let her know we are returning it. I was honest with her. I just told her I didn't think it was appropriate. And I used the beads issue since she puts everything in her mouth still. Ugh, this was from the SIL who gave B a pair of sweatpants that said "cutie" on the butt while her 11y/o wears a pair that say "juicy" on them. Um, no but that's an entirely other issue.
