XP: MMR SHOT REACTIONS?

I am not starting any debate about vaccines or mmr shot.  Just wanted to know if anyone's dc had any reaction to the MMR shot at all (red bump, fever, rash......anything?)  DS is due for this shot in about a month (and he is getting it)  and I was just curious/ and a little anxious about what to expect.  Shots haven't bothered him yet.  TIA!

Re: XP: MMR SHOT REACTIONS?

  • Nope no reaction at all

  • DS got a fever about a week and a half after the shot.
  • DS got it at his 1-year appointment and had no reactions whatsoever.  He did get his very first ear infection and fever about two weeks later, but I don't know if that's related to the shots or not.  Good luck!

  • Ben had his at 12 months and he had no reaction.

  • Mine got theirs at around 15m & neither had any reaction.
  • none... but it's not unusual to get a fine, pink rash about 10-14d after receiving it.  then the usual stuff... low grade temp in the first 24hr, tenderness at the site.
  • DS did not, but both my SIL's boys had a fever exactly a week after the shot. It was no big deal, she knocked it down with some motrin and kept them home for a day or two, and then they were fine.
  • Both of my girls have always done wonderful with all their shots and have never had reactions.  The baby had her 6 month shots about a month and a half ago and was totally fine and she gets her 9 month ones in Dec.  My 2 year old has had all of hers (gets the next ones at 5 years) and again - never had any issues.

  • My daughter had a febrile seizure about 10 days after the shot. (I read somewhere that there is a slight increase risk for febrile seizures 8 to 14 days after the shot.) She ran a high fever for about 4 days. Having said that, I would still "do" the shots. My daughter had a febrile seizure on her first birthday and was hospitalized for a week, therefore, I believe she will be prone to seizures with fever.

  • DD never reacted to anything else, but she had a low fever for a few days and was generally not herself for a few days - pretty sure she just didn't feel quite normal. But nothing serious.
  • DD received a TB test, 1st dose of the flu shot, and the MMR one week ago today.  Thankfully, she hadn't had any reaction to this round or any previous vaccinations.  Her pediatrician told us that a fever 1-10 days after the MMR can show up and to treat with Motrin or Tylenol.  Just to be sure, I gave her Motrin the night she received the MMR.  She's been her usual self, no reactions or problems.
