Boston Babies

the price of a nanny

I am looking into daycare options but didnt want to rule out a nanny. On average what can they cost for 1 child? I live in the Boston/south shore area. Also, do many nannies do certain household chores, etc? Any other info is helpful. Also, where did you find your nanny?

Re: the price of a nanny

  • I work at a nanny placement agency and the typical rate range that we see for a nanny is between $15-20 (depending on experience, # of children and responsibilities).  Most nannies are comfortable helping with child related household chores such bottle washing, children's laundry, dishes that they may have used and making sure that toys are put away. There are also nannies that are comfortable helping with more household things but it depends on the individual. Hope that helps!
  • It does help. I am still curious about others experiences as well. Do you work at an agency in the Boston area? Also, are some more flexible with hours/days,etc or is it usually a minimum number of hours?

  • The agency I work at is in th Boston area. Most nannies will have a minimum number of hours that they need in a week and can be flexible with the schedule for the right family. Some nannies do have set start/end times and days that they need to stick to due to their own children, if they are taking classes or if they have another position, etc.
