This might be a dumb question, but....
DH brought home some fresh eggs from a co-worker that has a chicken. Is there any reason why I would not use them? I've never had eggs that I didn't buy at a grocery store, so I don't know if there are any risks.
Re: Fresh Eggs?
Really?
Eat them. They are safe. I buy my eggs every Saturday from Tierra Madre Farms at the Sunset Valley Farmers Market. I've been assured they were fresh from a chicken tush that morning.
Perfectly safe. And delicious!
However, do rinse the shells, if they haven't been already. This way you avoid any chicken dirt in your eggs.
Grocery store eggs are older, less tasty, and less nutritious. They're also not pasteurized so they're not any safer (or less safe) than fresh eggs from a backyard chicken.
I'm not much of a egg eater but fresh eggs are awesome! Had them all the time growing up since my grandma had chickens.
Yum, I would totally eat them!
Here is a post I wrote about the differences in eggs: https://thestradtnerfamily.com/findingournewnormal/?p=515
