I just got this book, Making Babies, which is written by an MD and an acupuncturist, and while I'm really enjoying it and finding it interesting, I'm now at the point where it wants to put you in one or two types (dry, pale, tired, stuck, and waterlogged) and I'm not sure what I am.
When I take the questionnaire, it puts me as dry and tired, but dry is kidney yin deficiency and tired is kidney yang deficiency. Can you be deficient in both?
Also, I'm confused because my predominant theme in my life is my migraines. And pain is described as a qi stagnation. So, I'm surprised that I'm not in the stuck category, because that talks about stagnation.
Any ideas? TIA!
Re: Anyone understand TCM? Or read the Making Babies book? AustinBride?
Man, I am really terrible at understanding some most of that stuff. I understand (sorta) what you need to do for some of those conditions but I'm definitely not knowledgeable enough to figure out how to diagnose it. It's definitely possible that not necessarily fit neatly into one category or the other.
I would really recommend that you make a consultation at TCRA (texasfertilityacupuncture.com) or another acupuncturist. They have you fill out a long questionnaire to help them decide how you fit into those categories and where you need more help. There may be one area that you need more help in than others or that you need to address first before you can address the others. For example, I needed to get overall a LOT warmer before I could address digestion and blood-building but the issues were also somewhat linked together and had both similar and conflicting remedies. There's definitely some trial and error to find what works best for you... and what works well on one day or in one part of your cycle may not be best for another time. I have never had the exact same treatment twice as she is always tweaking the points that are needed most, my herb tinctures, etc. They have some good resources in their Patient Materials section of the site as well (https://www.texasfertilityacupuncture.com/resources/patient-materials).
That probably didn't answer your questions at all, but I hope it helped maybe a little!
