I had my 6 week ckup yesterday and we knew that my placenta had tired out at the end which is why my baby girl had IUGR but we found out yesterday from the pathology report that my placenta was very small with many infarctions in it. My baby girl is growing great and seems so healthy. They did a MRI 3 days after she was born to make sure she didn't have a stroke in utero which she didn't but they did notice that she had some very mild stress to her brain. The Dr's are very encouraged at her growth and development and said that babies brains adapt and heal so well that they don't think she will have any long term effects. I had emailed my Dr 2 days before I had baby girl bc I felt like something just wasn't right, I had a growth us at 30 wks and she was in 40th percentile and they were happy with that since my husband and I are on the small side. At 37 wks I kept having people tell me that I looked small for gestation and Neelie was moving but not a whole lot so my Dr got me in for a NST and BPP which I failed and they went ahead and induced me. Neelie Grace weighed 4lbs 14oz at 37w5d gestation. My Dr told me that if I had waited until my nxt appt that we may have had some very hard circumstances to deal with. I know that God was definitely looking out for us and most importanly for baby girl. I can't imagine my life without her. Anyone else have placenta infarctions
