Anyone else not sleeping at night b/c their uncomfortable?

For the first time in my pregnacy I am so uncomfortable at night that I can't sleep. I sleep for maybe an hour of two at a time if I'm lucky and then wake up and of course since I'm awake I have to use the bathroom.  And I've noticed that my lower back, shoulders and hips are having some aches and pains. Anyone one have advice for things that help? I've tried a pillow between my knees and using it to rest my hips on but no luck.

  • I have all of the above plus I get this stabbing pain in the middle of my back in the middle of the night/early am.  I think it is our mattress, not pregnancy related.  But geez, as if I need more pain!  I use a pillow, but just moving from side to side is an ordeal now.  I've also become addicted to my humidifier to drown out any sounds that could wake me up.  It's going to be a long 8 wks. until RCS.

  • I am having an awful time as well... I sleep with about 6 pillows surrounding me (including 2 king size) ... my dh thinks I'm nuts...it's the only way I can get come (king pillows are on right and left sides...one pillow between the legs, 2 pillows under my head and I hold onto an extra lol)... My hips have really been achy at night.

  • I will usually have a couple bad nights, than take a unisom and catch up, than have one or two better nights, than the cycle starts all over again. I have found though, that if I lay on my back with my head and shoulders propped up with a bunch of pillows, that I sleep really well that way.

  • I sleep half the night on my love seat with two pillows behind my back and one under my feel in a recliner position... then I go into bed when I get up to pee in the middle of the night!

  • Right here! I have tried everything and the only thing that seems to help a little is Tylenol PM. Only down side is usually I wake up at about 3 am from it and can't get comfy again.

  • I've had a lot of mid-back pain that interrupts sleep (and like pp, just switching positions is incredibly uncomfortable). I've had a LOT of relief from doing yoga stretches right before bed and sleeping on a wedge pillow. It means I'm on my back, but it's inclined, so hopefully that's ok. Hope you feel better!

  • ME!  I can get comfortable for a while, then I wake up because my legs ache...I sleep with a body pillow to keep me comfortable but it only lasts so long.  I flip from side to side and then towards the morning I end up propped my legs up on some pillows for some relief.  I also get really stiff at night and it hurts to get out of bed to pee!

THIS made me laugh.......cause I am the EXACT same way.  I wake every two hours or so to switch sides.  The only upside to all this frustration is that I fall back asleep pretty quickly.

I told my husband I'm tempted to start sleeping in our recliner because it's the only thing that seem to help lately. I think I'll try your pillow/propped up trick first. We just bought a new sleep number bed in January and I had been loving it but now there is no sleep number that is my number, lol. I feel bad with all my flopping around at night just to turn from my left side to right that I'm going to start keeping my husband up.

  • I slept on the couch last night. It was getting too difficult to roll over and the pain in my hips was becoming unbearable. Best sleep I've had since 1st tri!
i wish i could be joking but my dad is the music teacher at a church so he owuld be mad. we had sex, all the time how bad i know but we dont want to wait and he said GREAT OH KAY! and I was really feeling the wets? down there- too embarsed to say- but he acted like man.
  • My hips hurt so bad when I sleep. I flip side to side every 20 mins or so because I'm hurting so bad. I sleep with a pillow between my legs but that doesn't seem to be helping anymore.

  • Unisom has really helped me and so has doing the cat/cow yoga stretch 3x's a day for back pain (before I go to bed, after work, before I even get out of bed in the morning). I still get up about every 2-3 hrs to pee. I wake up in the middle of the night with my left hip and left arm in really bad pain. Switching to the right side is painful. I also use a snoogle. I often end up partially laying on my back but for now it's working and it takes the pressure off my left arm and hip.

This! It doesn't matter what position I am in once I start to feel any kind of comfort my hips start to hurt and then I have to change sides and start all over again. Plus the added bonus of getting up to go to the bathroom multiple times a night.

  • I have been sleeping like crap lately. Mainly because I'm getting up to pee every two hours. I can never get comfortable unless I'm sleeping on my right side or back, which then I wake up not being able to breath.

  • I try to sleep on my side and I'll be comfy for awhile but then whatever side I'm laying on my leg and arm will start to cramp/fall asleep, so I have to flip over. Add having to pee like 3 or 4 times a night...last night around the 3rd time I got up DH was like, you have to pee again?? And I have 3 dogs too so they keep thinking whenever I get up it is time for them to get up so they'll want to go outside...it's a vicious cycle!

  • Soo uncomfortable!  I usually sleep for about 2 to 2 1/2 hours before I have to get up to use the bathroom.  I try to remember which side I was on when I get up and then switch.  Rolling from side to side is a struggle is painful.  Nice thing is that I'm usually so exhausted when I do wake up and move that I fall back to sleep fairly quickly.  Oh and I can't breathe right now because I'm sick.  I miss sleep!!
