possibly dumb questions about courthouse security and pregnancy

SO I know that you are not supposed to get X rays while pregnant, I just found out that I am pregnant and I have jury duty this week. I have no problem with serving but I am concerned about going through X ray machines or metal detectors while pregnant. Same applies to flying, is it safe to go through airport security while pregnant?? Does anyone know if this is safe?? Or is this a really dumb question......

Metal detectors are fine.  There really isn't any independent research out there on the full body scanners they have at the airports, tsa claims that the levels are safe, but they have not released their "study" and they have not allowed an indepenent study.  As always, you can opt out of anything if you do not feel comfortable with it and ask for a pat down.

This. I always opt for the pat down just to be on the safe side. While no one knows for sure whether the body scanners are safe or not safe, we KNOW that getting fondled (while annoying) is harmless.

LOL, my thoughts exactly. Doesn't hurt to be cautious. You're fine at the courthouse though. I worked as a reporter when I was pregnant with DS and went through the metal detectors fairly often.

Going thru the metal detectors at the court house are safe. I work at the court house and have to go thru them every day along with all the other pregnant women that work here................ i think there must be something in the water. hehe
