30 day shred??

Hi Everyone,

Let me introduce myself first since I have never posted here.  I am the proud mama of 10 wk old perfect twin girls.

I have never really been someone who exercises, and I really don't like to exercise.  I have been doing Weight Watchers since having my girls and I have lost about 38 of the 45 pounds I gained with my girls.  I now am dealing with this little pouch/belly.  I am always moving, going for walks with the girls and things like that.  My question is about the Jillian Michaels 30 day shred.  I am not athletic at all and not good at sticking with exercising.  Is this something that a beginner will be able to keep up with??  Do you all have any suggestions for other beginners exercise videos that helped you??  TIA

Re: 30 day shred??

  • The 30DS is doable for beginners.  It's made up of moves like jumping jacks, lunges, squats, basic ab work, and free weights.  I do it on Mon, Wed, and Sat and I get on the elliptical Sun, Tues, and Thurs.  I have done it consistently for one week and I am already seeing big improvement in my overall endurance.  I would recommend doing it every other day at first, to give your muscles a chance to recover, and then once you feel more comfortable start doing it every day.  But, I am a big proponent of not overdoing it when starting a new regimen.

  • The video has 3 stages so you can move up when you feel comfortable enough. It's definitely a good video for beginners that will get your heart rate up, but I find it hard to stay accountable when working out with videos. Good luck!

  • Its a fantastic workout! It has 3 different levels that you progress through.  Don't be fooled though, its not a walk in the park.  It is meant to be challenging and she will really work you past your patience.  However, it is SO worth it... I lost several pounds using it a few summers ago.  Make sure you have the correct weights (as a beginner you may want to consider starting with only 3-5 pounds and then work up to 8-12 from there).  Remember also to use the correct form she shows you to get the best results.  Have fun, you're gonna hate her while you're doing it! ;)

  • This is always my go to workout when I don't have a lot of time (and I know you don't have a lot of time! ;-)

I did the level 1 for a long time before even switching to other levels.  And you can always increase (or decrease) your weights to make any of the levels harder (or easier) as you go.
