High-Risk Pregnancy

GD, HBP and ?

Hi ladies!

I have been lurking on this board for the last three weeks and have been so impressed by all the support that you give each other. And with my current situation, I feel like I might need some of that support over the next few months.

I am currently 16 weeks pregnant with my second child and have really had a lot put on my plate this time around. At 12 weeks, I got the chronic hypertension DX and at 13 weeks I failed the 1Hr. glucose test so badly that they didn't even send me for the 3Hr. I had GD w/ my son (who is now two) but didn't have any problems with BP then. Add on that my Pap smear came back abnormal and I have been a wreck for weeks. My doc was going to do a colposcopy on Friday to determine why my Pap was weird, but was not able to because I now have a cervical polyp that has poked out. First time my doc has ever seen anything like it, and she was afraid to do the procedure and disrupt anything connected with my cervix. So now I have to wait until 6 weeks post partum to find out what the heck was going on with my Pap and hope that this polyp doesn't cause any other concerns.

Baby has looked healthy on all the ultrasounds in the docs office, but my MFM is concerned about a distended bladder he saw at 12 weeks, so we are going to find out about that tomorrow at our anatomy scan. I'm just hoping everything looks good and that we can enjoy getting to find out if this baby is a boy or girl. I don't know that I can take much more on top of everything else.

Sorry for the long post... I really don't have any questions right now, but I'm sure I'll have something to ask about soon!

  • Take deep breaths. Your doctor will watch you carefully, and you will come through the pregnancy just fine.

I have had abnormal pap smears in the past. It can be very scary to hear, but you will be fine. Try to keep from thinking about everything and take one day at a time.

  • Sorry you are having to go through all of that.  I hope everything goes well at your u/s tomorrow.
