It was good, save for the illness that has also taken over our house.
Saturday I woke up feeling like death and with AF as a fun bonus. Ugh. Nevertheless, I kissed DW goodbye and wished her a fun day off w/ her friends. I wrangled the kids and got them fed, then we headed off to a play place were I could hang out in a semi coma as long as I made sure they didnt kill themselves or others. It was a good plan. The kids were well behaved and had a good time. We went out to lunch then home for rest. In the afternoon we did a few craft projects, made fudge for their teachers for valentine's day, went to the library to pick up a movie, and went to the post office to mail our vday cards. Sprout watched a bit of the movie while the girls and I cooked dinner. DW got home at perfect timing to help with dinner/baths/bed then we stayed up late cleaning the house and working on the girls' valentines.
Sunday morning we were supposed to have a playdate but I wasnt feelign well and neither was our playdate so we rescheduled. We took the kids to chuckie cheese instead. Thankfully the place was empty and wonderfully quiet. After that, we decided to head to the mall to pick up a piece of jewelry I had sent for re-dipping. That was pushing it. We left with 2 screaming toddlers under our arms football style. Home for lunch and rest. Then I spent the afternoon getting the closest thing to a "mommy sick day" I could....i went into the office to get some work done! DW managed the kids wonderfully but let Daisy nap a little too long which meant we had a little friend up wtih us until 10 pm last night!! i have a feeling she's going to be a nightmare for her poor teachers today. ya win some, ya lose some...
Friday - K took me out for a birthday surprise. It included good food and lots of wine (and of course a babysitter).
Saturday - We got a late start to the day but we grabbed a quick lunch together and then K went to write and I took Jelly Bean to the library.
Sunday - DD and I ran errands. Then she napped in the car while I sat in the driver seat bored as could be, but thankful that she was napping. Then a friend was hosting a book party at a local play place so DD and I went off to play.

Saturday morning Jen dropped the dogs off at the groomer's and went to prenatal yoga. I worked out at home and had lunch, and when she got home we got ready for the shower/going-away-party. It was so nice. There was no reason for me to worry about it. It was great seeing all of our friends at once, and I think everyone found someone to connect to or knew somebody, so Jen and I were free to circulate and chat. We played some fun games, took pictures with our friends, ate cupcakes (and tiramisu!), and opened presents. We got so many really nice kids' books, which thrilled me. Afterward we stayed to hang out with the hostess and her husband while her son napped, and they gave us some great new-parent advice.
We were both totally beat afterward (even very friendly parties exhaust introverts ), so we spent the evening at home. I packed our gifts and a few other baby things we had accumulated, and wrote my half of the thank you notes while we watched Lady and The Tramp (have no idea why Jen was in the mood for this, but I didn't mind).
Sunday morning we went to the newly-opened crepe place around the corner and it was awesome and I'm glad they just now opened, because I would have spent way too much money on their lattes. The contract on the house fell through and there was a showing on Sunday afternoon, so we went home and picked up some and then ran errands. When we got home we packed Jen's giant moving-cross-country suitcase and finished getting Lucky's crate ready, and our friend/dogsitter Mabel came over to visit the dogs one last time. They were ecstatic to see her, like always, which made me sad. We've been so lucky to have her. Sunday night we had dinner at Jen's favorite restaurant to celebrate her last night in DC and our 12th anniversary.
This morning was a whirlwind that started at 4:30am and ended with one wife, two babies in utero, two dogs and one giant suitcase on a plane to Portland. The move has officially begun.

Friday we hung out at home and watched a Netflix movie.
Saturday we went on a proper date. You might think that because we don't have kids yet this would be easy to prioritize, but it still seems to get lost in the shuffle too often. We went out to dinner in the city and then saw the play Wit on Broadway. It was very moving, and Cynthia Nixon was awesome. (She plays a college professor dying of cancer.)
Sunday we went to church, which is farther from home than we want it to be, and in a town we really wish we could move to. So we dreamed fruitlessly of moving there. Then we went to the mall (including JCPenney!) and got Chip.otle for lunch and picked up Cheesec.ake Fa.ctory to take home for dessert. And we were just talking about how we hardly ever eat at big chain restaurants... ha, oops. But I got a cute new shirt that I'm wearing today and already got complimented for!
TTC with PCOS since July 2011.

wow. bittersweet, i bet.
Yes, very much so. I'm excited that it's finally happening and confident that this was the right plan - she's great at finding houses and negotiating and I hate that stuff, and I'm glad she will not be here to overwork herself doing the actual move. But I am going to miss her, the belly, the baby kicks, and the dogs like crazy for the next 2.5 weeks.
Friday: I picked up Ky adn headed home to feed/bathe her while picking up the house. Ann came home and put Ky to bed. We ate dinner and then I decided I wanted to grocery shop kid free and went to the store at 9 at night. It was wonderful and I was in and out in half an hour.
Saturday: I cleaned and napped and baked bread and made homemade spaghetti sauce. Our friend M came back in town since she was supposed ot have a date with our friend A again. A ended up getting off late and jsut coming to our house where we all sat around and talked until way too late.
Sunday: Ky got up early and since M was sleeping in our toy room on the air mattress had nothing to do but torment....I mean play with the cat and dogs. I was so excited when M got up to go out on her rescheduled date with A. Ann eventually got up (I may have helped it along by sending Ky in to give her kisses...) and we got ready adn dropped Ky off with my mom for our date. We went to eat and then to see The Vow. Good movie, I cried, DW cried...Went to pick up Ky and got home in time to put her to bed. We ended up watching the Grammy awards even though it usually is not our cup of tea.

Although I do admit that I'm excited to have the bed to myself for a while. Shh.
Friday: I stayed home from work with E because she had a GI bug. Her dad picked her up late (well later than he would have picked her up at school) and I was grumbly because well, I had things to do! By the time he got her it was too late for me to really accomplish any errands or big chores, so I did a little blog reading to catch up since my work browser does not cooperate with my goo.gle reader anymore.
Saturday: I spent most of the day running errands. I got takeout Thai at a favorite place for dinner. The evening was full of cleaning and chores at home.
Sunday: I went skiing for the first time since before I was pregnant with E, so probably 7 years ago! A friend invited me to go with 2 other girls she knows. We all met at my place since I'm close to the hill we went to and carpooled. The snow was ok, icy in places, but it was fun day and a much needed break from the norm. After I got home it was laundry and a few chores and staying up way too late to see Adele win lots of grammies.
Ok, now that the babies are 4 months old, I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel and can start participating here, instead of peeking in from time to time!
Friday: DW was off so we had a mello day around the house. We got a lot of things ready for donation, had a simple pasta dinner, and rotated toddler, baby duty until everyone was in bed.
Saturday: Very easy going kind of a day! My big excitement was getting out of the house for 2 hours to run a few errands while DW stayed home and napped with all the kids, she has a rotating schedule and it was her weekend to work nights. DD had a friend spend the night and they helped me with baby duty while we had popcorn and watched a movie.
Sunday: Got up, got the truck washed, went to pick up girl scout cookies, then took all 4 kids to my mom's house. She wanted to watch them and give me an opportunity to get out of the house=) DW was sleeping. The highlight of my afternoon was crawling back into bed to snuggle up with DW and actually getting to rest without any interruptions!
Pumpkin got the cold L had... and the girls visit didn't happen AGAIN! so we hung low around the house. It was a nice chill day. And Pumpkin was up a. lot. at night. Poor congested boy. I have his mattress on an incline, and a vaporizer going in his room, and by 2am we rocked him in his carseat where he would sleep. For an hour at a time.
Sunday--we had brunch plans at a friend's and I made L take me out of the house. I was going a bit stir crazy. We just walked around a mall, scoped an indoor mini-golf place, and had fro-yo. But it was good to get out and feel energized to prepare for a repeat of Pumpkin not sleeping.
Friday: I don't remember. Apple had a horrible night and I got zero sleep.
Saturday: A's 8th birthday party! The weather was touch and go in the morning but it cleared up in time for the guests to arrive and was nice until we finished with the pinata, we had to do gift opening indoors because it started sprinkling (that's a monsoon here in CA). Apple woke every 1-3 hours throughout the night.
Sunday: We went to Mass and the cemetary, this year is the 17th anniversary of J's grandma's passing. After the cemetary we stopped by J's Aunt's house for refreshments before heading home. We stopped at two stores in search of a gender neutral toddler bed before deciding to convert our crib into a toddler bed. J went to bed early while I tried to get Apple to fall asleep. Apple woke every 2 hours last night, 10pm, 12am, 2am, and 4am. Either she is teething or having a growth spurt because she's now drinking 6-8oz at every feeding, has watery poo and is fussy most of the time.
Friday the kids didn't have school and our friend could only babysit till 1, so I left work at noon. It was good since L and I had horrible colds last week and I was feeling like crap. I took a nap and then L came home early. We had family game night and were both asleep by 9.
Saturday we took the kids to swimming lessons. L and I came home to rest and told them kids not to bother us unless someone was bleeding. LOL. They took it to heart and let us rest for 2 hrs while they played Wii! Whoo hoo. We met a friend and his new BF for an early dinner at the mall (holy crap it was crowded.)
Sunday L took the kids to see Phantom Menace while I stayed home and worked on consignment. I had an empty house for 3 hrs and it was awesome!! Our friend came over and we hung out. L made cupcakes for the kids' 100 day of school party, we played board games with the kids, and then watched the Grammys (which was pointless since I didn't know any one on them.)
Today I had the day off and the kids had school, so L and I went to the Newseum, a late lunch, and picked the kids up before they went to aftercare so we were home by 4. Ahh.
On Friday evening, we were supposed to have dinner with a friend K hasn't seen in ages. My wife is somewhat socially inept (her words), so she ended up kind of messing that up and we didn't hear from the friend for a while. We were afraid K had hurt her feelings and she'd write us off, but she'll be here Wednesday for dinner. There we go.
On Satuday morning, we packed to go to Western Mass in the p.m. We dropped the doggie off with a friend and headed to my BIL's for his SO's twins' 7th birthday party on Sunday. The weekend with them was a blast - the boys are very sweet, and it's always great to see my BIL and his sweetie.
On Sunday we had the party in the a.m. and headed back in the p.m. After putting J to bed, we decided to follow some of 2brides' advice. Suffice it to say it went VERY well.
Today is my birthday!!! Best birthday EVER! First, James let me sleep late (which wasn't great for being at work on time, but still)... I had a very productive day at work, complete with a "surprise" birthday party. Here's how my co-worker told me: "Hey, T, we have a translation for you. It's in the conference room." Smooth...) Then, my darling wife took me to Smith and Wollensky for a FANTASTIC steak dinner, and I just got home to three wonderful gifts from J's nanny: a shirt for James that reads "Best Present Ever," a beautiful shirt for me (!!!!!), and the fact that she and her daughter just watched James for G-d knows how long so K could take me out to dinner. Yay!
