NMR: Organizing crafts

I'm trying to get organized about our crayons, paper, glue, paints etc. I was going to make a run to Target or Joanne's to see what I could find but thought I'd ask if anyone had any sort of system they loved for organizing their crafts. Would love to get some ideas. TIA

  • If you haven't looked on pinterest that's probably where I would look first- I've seen tons of wonderful ideas!

I probably should start on a system considering they're over 2 years old and we have stuff just about everywhere lol

I have so many time sucks on the computer already (TB, FB, my blog, email etc.) that I have thusfar refrained from adding pintrest to that list. Maybe it is time....

  • I have those very small drawer things (5 drawers maybe 12-18" tall total) in a cabinet.  In the top drawer I have markers, 2nd drawer is crayons, 3rd drawer is finger paints, 4th drawer is hole punch, scissors and pencil sharpeners, 5th and bottom drawer is stickers.  I also have glue, tape, and stapler lose in cabinet.  If you have the space I would buy one of those stackable plastic shoeboxes (or similar) and just throw everything in there.
  • I don't have a fabulous system, but anything I do seems to revolve around some version of clear shoe boxes with lids.  :-)  We also have some of the clear plastic drawers in our office that we use for office supplies that would also work well for paper and such.

  • So far I haven't let DS1 use the paint I have for him. I don't know why - he paints all the time in preschool, and I was an art major. But I have all the crayons, markers, coloring books, paper, scissors, and stickers in a plastic bin from Ikea that fits in our Expedit shelves. It has a lid and also a tray with handle inside. All our Playdoh and tools are in a zippered plastic bag that some kind of toy came in, similar to what sheets and blankets and Megablox come in. (I use those bags for outdoor toys too, with sand toys in one and bubbles in another.)
