Trying to Get Pregnant

Hoping for some helpful info

Hello all! I'm newer to posting but I was hoping to get some information from some of you. I just bought some of the Wondfo OPKs and have never used an OPK before. My DH and I have been doing the "whatever" method for some time now and are now going to do this. I have been reading other posts that have mentioned the Wondfo pack off of amazon and wanted to know how they work. Do you test once in the morning and once at night? How long do you test for? My cycles vary from 30-45 days(which is basically normal for me). Thank you all for whatever advice you give!!! Looking forward to being part of the TTC group :)

Re: Hoping for some helpful info

  • I just started using them myself. Right now I'm testing once in the afternoon, around 2-ish. I'm also temping and charting with FF for the first time this month. I'm really not much help since I don't have much experience, but wanted to wish you luck!

  • When I first started using them I was testing 2 x's a day (w/ FMU and again around 6-7pm).  Once I got a feeling for what my LH surge is like, I was able to narrow it down to once a day, in the morning. I know I usually get 2 days of + OPKs, so once a day will allow me to catch my surge.  Some women have much shorter surges so they test 2xs to ensure they don't miss their surge.

As for when you should start testing (as in, cycle day), i would suggest starting with CD 10 until you get a better feel of when you officially O (esp since your cycle lengths vary).

It's also helpful to temp while using OPKs because they only detect the LH surge, not whether your body actually ovulates.

ETA: some more info and clarification

  • I have long cycles also and started using OPKs last cycle.  I almost missed my LH surge by only testing once a day so I'm going to test twice a day this cycle.

This. And I used to have somewhat irregular (28-45 days) as well, and would get a + OPK, stop testing, and then not get AF until I was really "late".  Some women get more than one surge, but don't O at all, or until the later surge.  So, I would keep testing until you confirm you've O'd by temping, and definitely twice per day until you get a feel for your surge.

Good luck to you and welcome to the board!

  • I've had some crazy cycles lately (45, 35, 36 and 53 days) so I just used OPKs the first time this cycle.  I started testing on CD10, caught a surge on CD12, but kept testing because I thought it had to do with dehydration and the fact that I was using FMU.  After that I started testing around 9am and 3pm, and caught another surge around CD20.  So I would agree maybe start on CD10 and test at least once a day in the afternoon, if not twice, until probably CD25 or 30, even if you catch a surge earlier.  Just to see.

I'm not temping so I didn't have anything to confirm ovulation, which is why I did keep testing, since I knew my cycles were usually longer than 28 days.  I'm crossing my fingers that I O'ed around CD21 or 22, and maybe I'm having a shorter (for me!) cycle :).

Didn't your Wondfos come with instructions? Mine did.

Mine didn't. It was a clear plastic bag with 40 wondfos and nothing else along the lines of how to use them.

Maybe they quit sending directions... I just got some a week or so ago, and there were no real instructions with mine, either.  I'm not new to OPKs, so it wasn't a big deal to me.

  • Thank you all for the help. I just ordered mine today and should get them around the 16th. I have an app on my phone to calculate my cycles for me, so I'm hope that between that and the OPKs it will happen :) I did have just one more question... when you all are saying that you temping, does that mean your doing the temperature thing in the morning? <-- I'm sure that this is a silly question, just want to make sure!

Thats what it means. Most people on here use fertility friend to chart. They have a mobile app as well. Click the tracker in mine or most anyone's sig
