I had a LEEP back in 2002 and I am paranoid that I may have issues with incompetent cervix. Have any MoMs had experience with this? I know my OB will monitor my cervical length regardless, but I am hoping to hear some first hand experiences. So, have any of you experienced this with multiples and the added weight?
Re: LEEP and chances of CI with multiples
I had a LEEP done in May of 2011. I was worried about the same thing with this being my first pregnancy and it being twins. They checked my cervical length at 16 weeks (it was just fine) and they're going to continue monitoring it. Try not to worry to much about it. My doctor said that she would more concerned if I'd had multiple LEEPs and colpo/biopsys done but I've only had one LEEP and two colpo/biopsy.
Congrats on your twins!

I had a LEEP a year before I got pregnant with my twins. I was closely monitored and my cervix shortened dramatically between 16 and 20 weeks. There's no way to say whether that had anything to do with the LEEP, or was just my bad luck. I was put on strict bedrest and stayed on bedrest for four months. My twins were born at 36w4d at 6.9 and 5.7.
You should talk to your OB about your concerns and make sure they monitor you closely. Lots of women go on to have no cervical issues at all after a LEEP. Good luck, and congrats on your pregnancy!
I had a LEEP in 2006 and delivered twins in 2010 (at 38 weeks). I actually think my LEEP may have helped me carry them for as long as I did. It turns out that I had a band of scar tissue on my cervix which my OB had to break up in order to break my water. (I was induced.) I had had tons of contractions, including an episode of pre-term labor at 24 weeks. My OB (and the midwife I sometimes saw for appointments) told that she thought the scar tissue may prevented me from dilating.
Good luck!
Thanks ladies, you helped ease my mind a little. There is tons of information about IC after a LEEP in singleton pregnancies and issues seem pretty rare. I'm glad to hear that issues seem to be rare with multiples too. I'll make sure my OB monitors it like crazy!
