Child Support Info

I'm 34 weeks pregnant. The dad left shortly after I turned 3 months and started to show. Does anyone know any information for Ohio child support on what information I need. We weren't together long and the pregnancy was a surprise to both of us since I was hoping my birth control would actually work (found out a month later it was recalled). He was kicked out of his apartment by his roommates, but his roommates do have his current address.

  • the best thing is probably to talk to a lawyer about what you should do from this point on until the baby is born as far as custody and support goes.

  • It doesn't matter if you were together for 20 years or 20 minutes. Both parents have an obligation to support the child.

Google is your friend. This is the link to the Child Support Division for your state. I didn't read it, but here, they can find just about anyone.

  • I'm in Ohio and wasn't married to my kids' dad.  Google your county child support agency (CSEA) and they should have a support establishment form for you to fill out and submit.  You don't need a lawyer to get CS established, the county will do it for you.  They will contact both of you by mail with instructions of what to bring to a meeting with a counselor (tax returns, W-2s, medical insurance and daycare info).  The counselor will take that info and calculate a monthly amount, and my county sets up wage garnishment automatically if the payor has a job.
