Bed rails

I've been bedsharing with DD and I would like to buy some bed rails. Can you ladies suggest some for a queen matress with a high pillow top? I would put the matress on the floor, but our golden retriever would hop on the bed and that would not be fun. I was also reading about taking a side off the crib and turning it into a side car next to the bed. Is that safe at all? TIA

Re: Bed rails

  • We have the Munchkin brand from Target.  It is a mesh rail; we've had it for almost 3 years and it has held up awesome.

  • I think when done correctly sidecarring is just as safe as a bedrail.

We used an extra long bedrail (Recaro brand) and when DD was around your LO's age she managed to wiggle around it and fall to the floor... twice.  I'm a crazy light sleeper and DD normally barely moves around at night. I never thought it would happen to us, but it did.

If you're committed to bedsharing I'd seriously consider kicking the dog out of your room and putting the mattress on the floor.  IMO it's the only really safe option.
