Epidural causing bp to drop

I will be having a rcs in September and am worried about the epidural and dropping of my blood pressure. I know it dropped with my first cs and I panicked but then I don't know what they did but it seemed fine. I am worries about it already gain though. However I assumebi won't be having an epidural in as long this time. Last Time I had it about 8 hours while waiting to dilate more, then it stopped working and they has to redo it. As far as I know that went ok but I had my mind on other things. Anyone's else bp drop with the epidural? Thanks!

Re: Epidural causing bp to drop

  • Don't worry, its can easily be treated with fluids and meds if needed. It's a pretty common side effect.

  • My BP didn't drop with the initial epidural, which I had for approx 6hrs until I needed an emergency c-section.  Once the booster was given for the epidural, I felt fine but it was when they were stitching me up that I felt that I was going to be sick and was light headed.  They fixed it right away and it only lasted a few minutes.  It's a common side effect.

  • If you're having a RCS you will probably have a spinal anyway.  Mine dropped with that tho and they gave me a med to bring it back up.  It is common and something they anticipate and are prepared for.
