does your pre-k kid wear footed pjs?

Jack has pj day at school on Tuesday and, for some reason, I'm worried about sending him in his footed pjs (which he wants to wear b/c it will keep his feet 'toasty warm').  I'm just picturing all the other kids in pj pants/shirts and then Jack rolling up w/ his footies on.

What say you, ladies? Try to convince him to switch to his pants/shirt set (lego batman, ftw) or let him embrace the footies?

FWIW- he's the youngest in his class.

  • Steven does wear footed jams every night, but on jammie day I put him in 2 piece jams.  I knew his feet wouldn't fit in his shoes with socks over the footies and I didn't want to just put his shoe on over the jams.  I don't know why, I just didn't.  i figured it would also be easier for them to change his diaper that way, too, though you don't have to deal with that.

  • Layna hasn't worn footed pajamas since she started walking.  I just consider them for babies, not toddlers and kids.  And her feet would get ridiculously sweaty, she's always running around barefoot.

But they sell footed pj's in all sizes, so obviously a lot of kids are wearing them.  Let him wear what he wants.

  • DD wears both footed and separates, so I don't think it's too babyish. I would opt for pants and a shirt for bathroom ease, though. I suppose it's a little different for a boy, but I wouldn't want DD to have to strip down all the way every time she has to pee. And the thought of her jammies hanging from her ankles all over the toilet and bathroom floor makes me shudder.
  • Ben wears two piece jammies because they're easier to get out of to go to the bathroom. That would be the only reason I would send him two pieces rather than a one piece for PJ day.

If it's a style issue, you tell Jack to rock on with his bad footie jammie self!

  • D's class had jammie day right before Christmas, and the majority of the kids (4- and 5-year-olds) were in footed pjs.

  • DD still rocks the footed jammies and I think they're adorbs. However, on PJ day at school, I send her in separates because her shoes won't fit over her footed jams.
    Dear Bump: You suck.
  • Ditto everyone else.  DD wears them at home, but at school pj day we went for 2 piece for convenience.  I did see other 4-5 yos in footies though.

  • Nico still rocks the footed jammies and he's worn them to school on ok day. Hell, he's shown up in them on days when it's not pj day. One of the benefits of a home daycare. He loves his footie pj's and since he always kicks off his blankets at night hell be wearing them for a while.
  • We switched when Abby started potty training (age 3) and she had a sleep sack depending on the weather. We also moved her room around that time.  She currently goes to bed in a top but mostly sleeps in her undies. Her room temp is wildly variable but tends to be too warm in any season =(. We find her curled up in a nest of her blankets almost naked all the time. Reminds me of the cover of "Cocoon".

Emily still wears footed PJ's even though I feel like she's too warm in them. I got her footless Hanna's and she'll only sleep with them for nap. At night she freaks if her feet are uncovered.

  • DD stopped wearing footed PJs once she was potty trained cause i want her to be able to go at night herself.

does jack know how to upzip them himself for when he needs to go potty? and my other concern would be shoes, can he wears shoes over them? if yes and yes, i'd let him wear what if wants. if no and no, i'd maybe try to get him excited about another 2 piece PJ.

  • Abby had several PJ days last year, and almost all kids were in 2 piece sets.  There was one boy who wore footed PJs.
  • I can't find footy jammies that fit H, he's such a weird proportion :

He wear Swedish moccasins with his jammies. Soft leather on the bottom and thicker sock on the top. I think we got T a pair one of our trips :)

When we do night outs and all the kids are in jammies, most are in 2 pieces, but I think it's easily b/c it's easier for potty time.

I think if J wants to wear his footies, let him. Maybe bring a pair of 2 pieces in case he changes his mind when he gets there?

  • Meredith LOVED footed PJs, but I always sent her in two-piece jammies on PJ days at preschool because it's easier to use the bathroom that way. Smile
  • see, the bathroom thing isn't an issue. he can unzip his pjs and he only needs to access the front AND he doesn't like peeing at school, so he usually goes right before we leave and then holds it until he gets home.

but, i think i'm going to spend the next two days convincing him to wear one of his two piece sets.
