Baby Names

Anyone else notice ??

I was just doing some Etsy shopping, and the amount of cutesy little girl and baby girl items is out of this world ! Between the bows and headbands and pettiskirts, its crazy !

When I see a hot pink pettiskirt on a little girl, I immediately think Kaylee or Kinley type name.

So does anyone else agree that the rise in cutesy accessories and the like for babies is aiding in the increase of cutesy and trendy baby girl names ?

  • No.

Little girls'/baby girls' stuff has always been "cutesy." It's stuff for little girls, after all. I've never seen a little girl in a tutu and thought, "OMG, her name MUST be something stupid/childish." She's a little girl. It doesn't matter what her name is. She wants to dress like a princess and prance around.

  • Hmm, I think it would be the other way around.  The pink princess overload thing  makes me want to vom though.

Seriously, you don't need to put a giant, pink bow on your infant daughter's head; she won't be scarred for life if people think she's a boy because she has no hair.  People think/thought my sons are/were girls all the time, it is nbd.

  • I have trouble associating a name with style on anyone under 14 I'd say. I do dislike the over-gender specific clothing... give your child some freedom to be who they are. The only child clothing that makes me judge a parent is clothing that is copying grown up clothing and is inappropriate for children - kids should look like kids and when you dress a girl in something that on an older person is supposed to make them look sexy, that's just wrong.
