Pain after ultrasound?

After my a/s today my lower abdomen is a bit sore from the nurse pressing the u/s device against my belly. This was my first non-vaginal u/s so I didn't know if this is common.

Anyone else experience this?

Re: Pain after ultrasound?

  • Yes it's normal (according to my doc), in fact I was sore from mine for two days and gave in and took one Tylenol for the discomfort. My a/s was almost two hours and there were a couple times when the tech and specialist jiggled my belly to get my daughter to move in a certain position...

  • I had a little discomfort for an hour or two after my last appointment, and all they did was use the doppler.

I'm starting to think most of my aches and pains are pretty normal, as I get ready to post a question, then I scroll down, and am like, "Oh...she beat me to it!" Smile

It's funny, because I keep wanting to post more, but I don't want to be the repetitive poster, and I'm later in the day to post, since I can't get on at work.  But it is still fun to read. Smile

  • Yep, the other day I had my 3D u/s and trying to find out the gender was painful!! Yikes! The pushing, proding, etc. made me feel sore, crampy, kinda yucky the next day. The u/s lasted a total of 30-40 minutes.

  • I had my a/s on Wednesday and it didn't bother me at all, but today at my monthly ob appointment the ultrasound was VERY uncomfortable.  Actually I would even dare to say painful.
