Ok Benedryl?

I thought I gave B benedryl last night, but apparently I gave her a 5 hour energy drink! She has a horrible sinus infection so the doctor wanted to try benedryl to help her clear up her nose so she could sleep. I thought it was to make you tired? She partied ALL.NIGHT.LONG! So is this common? We aren't big benedryl users, but when I've taken it, i'm pretty much out for a full 8 hours. Well hey, she didn't have any more runny nose but neither did she sleep. Ugh.

My mom said this happened when she gave me Benadryl once and she never ever did it again. Apparently it is something you can grow out of because I may as well be hit with a tranquilizer dart now if I take Benadryl. Sorry she was up all night!!

The one time we've used it it had the same effect on J.  Same thing with Tylenol and Ibuprofen.

Not that bad, but it definitely perked him up a little. Benedryl does the exact opposite for me, too. I actually have to be careful about what time I take it at night so that I'm not still hungover on it when I have to wake up in the morning for work.

Seriously? Wow, I never knew that. I always thought it knocked people out. But I guess it's like any other drug, different effects for different people. Note to self: no more benedryl for B right before bed. It did clear up her nose though.

Hyperactivity is a common effect when giving Benedryl to toddlers and preschoolers.  Makes for a nice treat for parents who give their kid Benedryl for plane rides in attempt to make them mellow for the trip!

Oh crap. That was going to be me next month. Ever since B started to crawl he HATES sitting still so I was going to ask the ped about a small dose of benadryl for the plane ride to Mexico... now this whole post had scared the crap out of me!

Did it have any dyes in it?  I have to take dye free benedryl because the dye makes me hyper.  I only give Abby dye free for fear of the same thing happening to her.  I do know that my sister's children all get hyper with benedryl even with it being dye free.

Yup, it's the pink one. That's a good point too.
