3rd Trimester

s/o anyone else having a planned c-section?

I know if varies from person to person but I was wondering if a planned C-section is better than an emergency c-section in regards to delivery and recovery. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

My DD#1 was an emergency c-section but this one will be a planned one at 39 weeks.

Hopefully it goes easier(although I thought it was alright the first time) without the labor.

  • IMO, planned is better than emergency, especially if your emergency comes after a long, hard, unproductive labor.

It is major surgery... you'll recover better if you haven't been beating the crap  out of your body for the 4-12 hours before getting cut open.

  • I have a planned one this time too at 39 weeks.

With DD it was a failed induction, not emergency but last minute. I did have pitocin contractions for 96 hours thouhg. Recovery was a cinch. I hear 2nd c-sections are easier recovery than first. I HOPE SO!

  • definitley planned is better. so many reasons. maternal and fetal distress is lower, recovery is easier, and sometimes they have to cut threw sotmach muscles in a true emergency.
