I tend to lean toward the original spelling of names but that's just my preference. My brother & SIL named their baby girl Alyvia, spelling it to match my nephew's name, Alyus.
I have an Alivia Grace and no one has pronounced it O-livia like we know Olivia would be pronounced. It is always Uh-livia like we wanted. Good luck with your decision!
My DH's cousin has a daughter named Alivia and it annoys me every time I see it. It just looks wrong to me. Also, at least for me, it changes the entire feel of the name.

We have an Olivia and if people do use her first name (she mostly goes by Livi), it sounds like OH-livia. Only rarely, and usually when it's said quickly, does it sound like AH-livia. To me, the change in spelling changes the sound of the name, and i think Olivia is prettier.
If you want her name to ah-livia then name her Alivia. She'll have to correct people but no, it isn't really that big of a deal. I know plenty of people that have to correct the spelling of their name and they live pretty normal lives. Throwing an extra letter in there or making it almost un-recognizable is one thing but if you like Alivia better than Olivia, do it. IMO, they are different names.

The only Alyvia I know is somewhat trashy, so that's what I associate with that spelling (even without the y)...sorry. I say just go for the traditional Olivia.

Just curious. How is Alyus pronounced? Never heard it.

The same as Elias, or Ah-lie-us.
Elias is supposed to be pronounced, EE lye us, not UH ly us.. just like how Elijah is supposed to be pronounced EE lye jah, not Uh lye jah. I guess people can say them with the Uh sound instead, but they are supposed to be pronounced with the E sound.
My daughter is Olivia. We are in the Midwest also (Chicago). We debated A vs O also. I started pointing the name out and asking everyone I know how they pronounced it. Everyone but 1 pronounced Olivia (Uh-Livia). The 1 person said (O-Livia). With the Alivia all of them said A-Livia. We were looking for the Uh-Livia pronunciation so we went with the traditional spelling. I thought it was odd that people exaggerated the O so much on here and it freaked me out but in my area no one does this. I would poll people in your area and go by the pronunciation you are going for. HTH

I know. I'm actually Hispanic and I pronounce Elias like EE-lee-as, naturally. Like I said, I really prefer the proper/original spellings of names but I didn't argue with my SIL and brother when they chose Alyvia or Alyus. All that matters is that they liked those names.

OLIVIA - I prefer traditional spellings in most cases.

How are you pronouncing it? To me Olivia and Alivia are not pronounced the same way.
I have a niece named Alivia, but she says AH-livia, not UH-livia or OH-livia.

"Alivia" is an absolutely awful spelling...and name.
Love it. Agreed.
