Infertility

early menopause anyone?

My sister found out she is in early menopause.  She hasn't been getting her period regularly and after many tests, it turns out at age 31 she is in early menopause.
She was hoping to do IVF but the doctors told her that it wouldn't do any good because she isn't producing any eggs.  She's seen 3 specialist and each have said the same things.  Apparently her FSH levels (I think that's what they are called) should be no more than 15?  And hers are 60!  I'm not really sure what all that means, but I do know she was told her only option at this point is egg donation or adoption.
Has anyone been through something similar and what was the outcome?  Or where are you in the process now?
Also, what can I do or say that isn't going to make her feel worse?

  • I'm sorry your sister is dealing with this. I don't have the same Dx as your sister but I believe there are several ladies on the board proceeding with donor eggs.

As far as "etiquette" on infertility, here's a great article on Resolve's website about what to do/say and not to do/say. Wishing your sister lots of luck on her journey!

Yes me. I went into premature ovarian failure which seems a nicer name then early menopause. I was 24. I had it due to multiple chemo regimens due to lymphoma at 23. My periods never returned without help from birth control (basically fake period) I am currently 32w pregnant with twins from donor eggs and yes it was hard to think that I'd loose my genetic connection but these children are mine. I've been sick as hell this whole pregnancy with various issues. I nourish these babies, I will mother these babies, they are mine <: It may take a bit for her to come to terms with it but if she decides to go the route I did she will not regret it! I feel these babies all the time they make my heart melt! I am their mom!! <:

PS she's welcome to PM me if she has any questions... She is definitely not alone!! I just turned 33 btw.
