so i'm pre-registered already-- but what do i do when i *actually* go into labor and try to check-in? do i just tell them my name? do i give them my ID? should I make photocopies of ID and/or insurance card? or do i just run in screaming, and they'll figure it out later?
thanks mommas!
Re: question about delivering at evergreen--
The last one, lol. I remember H called and talked to the nurse on the phone. I don't remember then getting a copy of anything from me, but H might have taken care of all that for me. Since BKB came so fast I know they didn't worry about any of that stuff before hand. It was all just about getting the baby out safely.
Short answer - If you are preregistered you are good to go.

I would ask your OB office. My OB office had numbers for me to call if it was during business hours or outside business hours. During business hours they wanted to see me in the clinic and not at the hostpital. If I was far enough along they would send me to get checked in. Your OB office might have different hours or a different procedure.

Have you husband program the FMC (Family Maternity Center) phone number into his phone. We learned this lesson the first time when I was in labor, couldn't talk and he was fumbling through my phone trying to find the number. Second time around he knew it was under FMC (Double check, but I believe the # is 425.899.3500).
I had my husband call to ask advice on when to come in, the nurse talked to him for a bit and they kept in constant contact (my birth plan was to labor at home as long as possible with both babies). When I finally decided it was time, he was already on the phone with the nurse and let her know we were on our way.
When we got there (with baby #1), my husband found a nurse and got me a wheelchair and ran me in screaming "WOMAN IN LABOR!!!" it was pretty dramatic (and funny as they all stared at him like he was nuts). They asked me a few questions and admitted me immediately, they could tell that I was definitely in labor (crying, couldn't talk, a hot mess). And said they would take care of the rest later.
With baby #2, I walked right in and answered questions and I was admitted.
They won't turn you away if you don't have your insurance card - depending on how far along in your labor you are, they may just admit you and take care of all the paperwork later.
this is hilarious.
i can't seem to find a number for FMC anywhere online...it just has the regular evergreen number. i will check with my OB to see what numbers to call (and i'll post it, if it's a generic number, and not just her office number!).
thanks!
