Baby Names

WDYT? Twins....

We found out on Monday that we are having identical twins, won't know the gender until April.  We had a boy name and a girl name picked out already but now we will need another name either way.  So, my question is would you come up with another name OR would you take the name you had and use it as two FNs and come up with new MNs.  Ex:  Boy name was Bentley Drake,  use it and come up with another OR use Bentley MN and Drake MN.  (Girl name was Shelby Brooke if you're wondering :)).  Thanks for the insight!!

Re: WDYT? Twins....

  • Well, I think it depends how much you love both those names. I like Shelby and Brooke seperately. I am sorry but I don't like Bentley at all. Or Drake. But if you love both those names use them seperately I guess.

  • Well. I personally would throw out Bently all together because I can't stand it, but if you both really like the names you chose then I would find new middle names and use the 2 names as firsts.
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!

  • I really like Shelby and love Brooke.  Bentley I dislike and think sounds pretentious sorry..  Drake is nms either.     I think it all depends on the other names you come up with and how they sound together..
  • I think the names would work as sib sets.  I can see a set of girls and calling after lieelt Shelby and little Brooke.  I could also see it the other way.  If you really loved Shelby and Brooke was just good as a mn choice then you can pick another name.

Bentlyey is nms but I actually really like Drake.

  • It really depends on how much you loved the MNs. If you chose them to go along with the FN or they have family significance, leave them as MNs. If you chose them just because they were another boy/girl name that you loved - then use it as the other FN. I'm in agreement with the others on your boy names.
  • I think Shelby and Brooke would be cute names for twins.  I like them seperately more than together, because I just don't think they flow together as one name.  If you really like Bentley and Drake I think you should use them as two seperate names.  I like Drake.  I don't care for Bentley that much, but what about the name Bennett?

  • Thanks for the responses.  I guess we will just see what happens but I am really thinking about splitting up the name and coming up with new MNs.  We loved both sets of names so that might be the best way to go, just wanted some other insight!

  • If you love all the names separately it makes a lot of sense to use them as the fns -- though a lot of us pick mns we probably wouldn't use as first names.

But please, don't name your son after a car.  Would you call him Cadillac or Porsche or Audi?  No, because that would be trendy, materialistic, and ridiculous.

Not naming him after a car.  Just like the name.  My DD is Alexis, had nothing to do with a car.

It does strike me as funny that if you have b/g twins all your kids will have car-themed names

    *Bentely

    *Alexis (A lexus)

    * Shelby (like the mustang)

Thanks!  It is a cute name I think if people wouldn't get all caught up in "OMG its a car" or "OMG its teen mom".  Its a name.  You like it or you don't like any other name.  No need to make a big deal.
