NBR Cat reacting to baby?

Since about a day or two after we brought DS home, our cat has been throwing up his food a couple times a day.  DH thinks it's due to the stress of the new baby, but I'm not so sure.  I'm getting worried about him.  If I wasn't taking care of a newborn, I'd take him to the vet myself today.  He otherwise seems to be acting fine.

What do you ladies think?  Has anyone else's fur babies reacted this way to a new baby?  Should I insist DH take him to the vet to get checked out?

Re: NBR Cat reacting to baby?

  • Lurker from Feb 2012, but I would try changing his food first.  I have 2 cats that are several years old that hadn't ever been particular about what kind of food I gave them (usually 9 Lives, Whiskas, or Friskies).  Then one of them started getting sick several times a day.  We changed the cat food and he was fine.  We then got a small bag of the same brand he had been on when he started getting sick but in a different flavor (Friskies) and he started getting sick again.  We've now put a ban on Friskies in our house and he hardly ever gets sick anymore.

All that being said, kitties can be sensitive to changes so it could very well be stress from the baby, but as cheap and easy as trying a different kind of food is I would try that for a couple of days (assuming your kitty is keeping some food down) before taking him to the vet.
