White spots in pump tubing? Mold??

I got milk into my pump tubing about a month ago.  At the time, I cleaned it out with soap and water and dried.  The white spots remained.  Now I'm noticing there seems to be more spots.  My immediate thought was mold (ew!) but everything I'm reading online says that mold in the tubes is black.  Could this be mold or just condensation or something?  Have you had mold in your tubing? I have a hospital grade pump so it's not easy to buy replacement tubing so really hoping this isn't what it is!

Re: White spots in pump tubing? Mold??

  • It could just be hard water staining, my medela has the same white spots in its tubing.  It had condensation build up and I let it run to dry it out and where the water droppelts were there are now white spots.

  • I have this too. Last time I washed the tubing I rinsed it out really good with hot water and used a medicine dropper to push some rubbing alcohol through it. It helps to clean and dry it faster. I read this in my Medela pump manual.
