C-sections

April 19th is the date!

My doctor scheduled my c-section. My question is what did you wear while you were in the hospital? I am suppose to stay 4 days possibly 5, and from what I remember from my first c-section they would open my robe and check the c-section area and adjust the belly band about twice a day. I wanted to wear yoga pants, but if they are going to constanltly tell me to pull my pants down and my shirt up, maybe I should just leave the robe on. What did you wear and how did you manage?

Re: April 19th is the date!

  • I wore my maternity leggings that had a comfy, high band and either men's shirts or some long tunic type tops, that I thought would be fine for nursing. The pants were no issue with them checking the scar, shirts were difficult for nursing. This time I still plan to bring the leggings and for tops my nursing tanks + a long cotton cover up that I got from Lands End this summer (it zips all the way down).

  • I just wore some pajama pants and t-shirts.

  • I mainly wore the hospital gowns... I had packed high-waisted yoga pants that wouldn't rub on my incision and some nursing tanks, but didn't really use them until the day we were going home.  It just seemed easier to wear the gown since it provided easy access for them to check my incision and to BF.

  • I wore pajama pants the whole time I was in the hospital after my c-section.  I declined a few incision checks but when they did check it it was no problem to pull them down.

  • I wore the hospital gown the first 3 days - then put on yoga pants and nursing tanks for the last two.  I was in 5 full days because my hemoglobin plummeted post surgery and they wanted to keep an eye on me one more day.

  • I wore the gown the first day and then changed into my own clothes after that.  I think the best thing I had was my robe b/c I could throw it on over anything and I also had hot flashes followed by cold spells.  I brought yoga pants, but the first couple days they were a little uncomfortable around my belly.  I wish I would have had looser fitting pants around the belly.  I also brought a couple nursing tanks, which was great since I was trying to bf.  The doctors only looked at my incision 1x/day so I wasn't constantly pulling clothes up and down.

I would recommend bringing clothes that fit you while you're still pg and that are comfortable now.
