Is this person from a different country/culture? I try not to judge names in those cases because that could be a totally legit normal name where they're from. But if that's just someone whose parents were trying to be creative, that crap gets on my nerves. For instance, if that's supposed to sound like "Asia" I couldn't be in the same room with that person without muttering, "Dumb ass," under my breath. And it wouldn't even be their fault! It's their parents! Still, couldn't help it.
I worked with a very sweet woman from Russia whose name was Assol. True story. Some how when we addressed her it became "Assia." Not sure where that version came from but it certainly made saying her name for us Americans less awkward.
