Sibling Name to go with Dylan

I have a daugther named Dylan.  We are having another girl and considering a few names.  I kind of wanted something more feminine this time around but not sure if that would "go" with Dylan. Thinking about:  Emily, Taylor, Josephine, Devon, Skylar, Amelia... thoughts?

Re: Sibling Name to go with Dylan

  • I like Emily - I think it's a great, classic name. Some other suggestions:

    Arden

    Shea

    Julia

    Reese

    Sheridan

    Madeline

    Kirsten

  • May I ask why you now want a more feminine name for your other child? Just curious - has your tastes changed or are you just tired of correcting people on the sex of your child. (Not flaming, I am honestly curious)

I think out of the ones listed the only feminine names you have are Josephine, Emily and Amelia, but I don't feel like the work with a (female) Dylan unless you plan on using Joey for a nn for Josephine.

A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.

Taylor, Devon, and Skylar are all boys names so they don't really fall into the more feminine category.

Josephine and Amelia are nice but I really can't see Amelia and Dylan as a female sibset. I would probably go with Taylor, that is by far the best crossover name to me.

  • I guess both - name taste has changed a little and sometimes it is annoying to correct people (for me, not them since I know Dylan is a boy name).  Anyway, I know that some of those weren't feminine, but I wasn't sure feminine would go with non-feminine.  Does that make sense?
  • Oh my goodness, you mentioned a boy's name on a girl and the snark squad came out in a hurry.

I think just about any of the names you listed would go with Dylan. Not a fan of Skylar and I don't think Amelia would go as well. I like Devon but the double d thing is weird to me. Josephine would be cute with NN Josie. I also think Taylor or Emily would go nicely with Dylan.

Some others that might be nice: Arden, Margot, Lane, Sloane, Audra or Audrey, Gwen, Romy, Rory and Avery (prefer these on a boy though), Quinn, Colby, Casey, Zoe

  • I think anything too feminine or classic would look really odd next to Dylan; if I got a card or letter from Wife, Husband, Dylan and Amelia, I would assume Dylan was a boy. I don't think that's the direction you want to go.

I vote for Taylor. Taylor is on the feminine side of unisex IMO, and I think it suits the same style/sounds great with big sister Dylan. I also like Schuyler, but splled like this.

I knew brothers named Dylan and Devin in high school. Not a fan of using two D names.

Other suggestions: Piper, Harper, Marlo, Kendall.

What snark squad? Krissy asked a legitimate question, and she did so very respectfully.

I agree with the above.  I don't think it would be fair to Dylan if you used a feminine name for her sister.  I think you ought to stick with a unisex or boys names.

    Morgan is another suggestion.

  • From your list, I think Taylor or Devin (seems a pinch more feminine to me spelled with the "i," maybe because that's the way the female Devin I know spells it) goes best.

Other suggestions: Quinn, Sloane, Brooke, or Joie (just saw this on here today for the first time - pronounced Joy-ee I believe). I also like PP suggestion of Morgan. And, I kinda like "Charlie" on little girls sometimes.

  • I know two girl Dylans. One is only 5 months, the other is about 12 and has sisters named Ashton and Charlie. While not my personal taste, I think it totally works as a sibset.

I agree that it might not be fair to Dylan to have a sister with a super feminine name. From your list, I'd probably go with Taylor or Skylar (Schuyler). Devon could work if it didn't sound so similar to Dylan.

Other suggestions: Rowan, Tatum, Peyton, Shea, Hadley, Sydney, Ellis, Hollis, Drew, Reese
