Moms with colic LO-How do you deal?

How do you soothe and help your LO cope with colic? He's fed and dry, but squirms and cries with so much discomfort. He hates the swing, hates his bouncy...right now he is just laying on a blanket on the floor with a paci staring at the ceiling fan. I used a bottle nipple to give him a dose of gripe water. That worked for a half hour and then he fussed again. 

So I'm wondering, what do you do?

With my first child, i bought a new pair of sneakers since I basically stood and bounced him all day for 5 months until I returned to work. He took all naps on me only.   We used mylicon but it didn't help.  Nothing helped.  I should note that he spit up a lot-we are pretty sure he had undiagnosed reflux.  He cried for probably 5 hours plus every day. I never left our home and shed plenty of tears.  He also would not take a paci.  So I have no advice, but I can say it gets better.  At 6 months, our son was a happy, happy kid.  He has slept through the night literally every night since (he is now 26 mo).  

 Oh, have you tried wearing your baby in a carrier?  If you are nursing,have you tried eliminating foods?  That may be a next step if his stomach seems to bother him and he is gassy.

We are taking it day by day.  We try the swing, RNP, crib, co-sleeping...basically anything that helps - even if its only for a short time.  We are FF so we switched to soy which helped some too.  I just ordered a carrier and bought a sling from craigslist so we will if either of these help too. 

Hang in there, you are not alone!

We're not sure yet if it is reflux or colic or both....but it's tough.

Have you read Happiest Baby on the Block?
We have had a lot of success using the 5 Ss to get him to calm down some.  He also LOVES the sling.  LOVES it.

A stiff cocktail at the end of the day . Nothing worked for DS from about 3 wks to 3 months. He wouldn't let me put him down & he didn't even want me to sit down. He wanted me to walk him around & sometimes he still cried. Hang in there & know that it does get better!

Have you tried white noise and swaddling?  Get the sleep sheep or gentle giraffe - they're magic!
