I have no idea where to ask this question so I am just asking it here for anyone that has experienced birth already. My childbirth class is tonight and our instructor asked that we bring in something that could be used as a focus object during labor. I have no idea what to bring in. Did any of you use one? If so, what was it? Thank you!
Re: FOCUS OBJECT
I had one and kept the thought in the back of my mind. It was a small paper mache sculpture of a woman with her hands in her pockets and a bird resting on her head. It has a carefree feel to it. I liked having it in the room even though I didn't look at it during labor.
My eyes were closed during contractions...so I guess my focus object was the inside of my eyelids!
I've heard of people using statues, pictures, or something from the baby's room to focus on.
Tash- HA! That's funny.
I ended up using that bright spot light they use in the hospitals that drop down from the ceiling. At one point my OB asked if I could see what was happening in the reflection of the light bc I was staring so intently at it. No I couldn't, but once I started to focus on it, I just couldn't seem to look away!
OP- I would bring a favorite picture (sonogram pic maybe?) or maybe a token from a vacation you and your hubby took or something. Something that will bring you to a calm state of mind and reminds you how loved you are and how much love you have to give to your baby.
Breastfeeding and pregnant!
