Sleep help

Ella just turned 2.  We had always wrapped to sleep with minimal problems, but in the last little bit, bedtime is turning into trouble.

We have a routine, and I don't think we are starting too late.  We have dinner around 6ish, into bath by 6:30, and we are in PJ's having bedtime story by 7.  She now doesn't want to be wrapped, and only occasionally wants to be rocked, but she's still not at the point where she realizes she has to lie still to get to sleep.

If I stay in the room with her, she is quiet, but wriggles, tosses and turns, talks to her baby, bounces her legs, and is generally awake.  I just can't outlast her.  If I leave, she cries, and I'm really not interested in CIO.  I don't think she is the kind of child to expel energy by crying, it just winds her up more.

Any suggestions?  It was after 10pm before she finally fell asleep last night.  I finally just rocked her until she was drowsy and then set her back in bed.

Re: Sleep help

  • I am in the same boat with you, except replace wrapping with nursing. sorry, I don't have any advice, i was going to post the same thing a few days ago, but thought I would give it a while in case it's a short phase.

  • I've held off posting too, because a while ago she did a similar thing, but I could wrap her on my back and she was fine.

Now as soon as I start to wrap, she tells me she has to go potty, and since we're sort of PLing we go, because I don't want to tell her no to the potty.
