Anyone use the BJCS while traveling via airplane? I'm not sure how it would work - I'd have to take off at least one seat when folding and gate checking the stroller. So I guess I'll have to buy a travel bag(?) Plus, won't I have to take it apart when going through security too? It seems like it's going to be kind of a pain, especially if we bring car seats too.
I'm starting to think I should get another double to take on the two trips we have coming up. What are your experiences, BJCS experts??
Re: BJCS and airplane travel?
Yes, you would have to take it apart to fold it at the gate and to get through security. We went with cheap umbrella strollers to get through the airport. I don't trust the airline to not ruin my expensive stroller. It's very hard to get them to accept responsibility if they bend something or lose a piece. And it takes forever to do the claim and in the meantime you're stuck with an inoperable stroller.
Also you might want to check your airline's policy on strollers. American Airlines has gotten strict and usually (I say usually because it depends the person who is checking you in) won't allow double strollers to be gate checked so you might have to check as luggage.
I have the Jeep stroller, it's just a simple stroller. I used it for travel with my daughter and when I went to pick it up at the gate the tray on it was off, I thought it was broken! It snapped back on but I would've been pissed. I'd buy a cheap umbrella stroller!
Interesting, I'll look into that thanks. Do you know, is it just big strollers or would they allow a little double umbrella? (seems like they should since it would be no bigger than, say a single Bob, but who knows...)

We flew last fall and got a Maclaren Twin Triumph through a bunch of times. We went from MN to WA to HI to CA to WA and then back to MN (5 different check-ins). So I don't think a smaller double umbrella would be a problem. I think I remember the check-in person telling me something about if the stroller didn't fold down compactly and/or weighed more than 20 lbs, they want you to check it in with luggage.
A girlfriend of mine just flew with her twins earlier this year and said that if you do curbside check-in they aren't as strict with the stroller rule. Apparently she got to gate check her BJ City Mini Double on AA.
