Need advice on road trip

My younger sister is expecting her first baby at the end of February. We planned to go see her the first weekend in March, and my youngest sister would also be flying in from out of state that weekend. It's normally a 6 hour drive without kids. My DH just found out that he now has to work that weekend. We won't be able to visit any other weekend until the end of March due to other work commitments.

Would I be crazy to take a 7 month old and a 2 year old by myself? It'll probably take 8 hours to drive there with all of the stops I'd have to make.

Re: Need advice on road trip

  • I'd probably go, as long as your sister is okay with you bringing the kids around the baby. We road trip with our girls a lot, and while I haven't done both on my own yet, I think it would be doable. I'd just make extra stops as needed, and probably have a stroller for one or both so you weren't trying to carry one and chase the other and have someplace to put them when you need to use the bathroom and such.

    Good luck ;)

  • I've done several roadtrips by myself with the kiddos (about 10 hours).  Just be emotionally prepared that the trip will take longer than usual.  :)  Pack lots of snacks and a stroller and you'll be fine.
