First shots!
Just started my first stims shots last night. Gonal-f pen and Repronex both SC (short needle). I have to say the first one took about 5 tries to finally inject it watching the video from Freedom Fertility. Not bad as I thought. Once the needle is in it wasn't bad. The Repronex burned a little going in a left a little red area around the injection site like a bee sting. The Gonal-f pen is nice because it's pre loaded. Overall not as bad as I thought it would be.
Me-39. Spouse-41. Married 10/03/10. TTC since 10/10.
06/11-Sperm test showed borderline low count and low mobility. 9/1/11-Started acupuncture.
09/08/11-IUI+50mg clomid=BFN. 10/11-50mg clomid+no IUI=BFN.
10/24/11-Day 3 FSH-15. 10/27/11-HSG normal. 11/11-50mg Clomid+IUI=BFN.
1st RE visit on 11/18/11. Thyroid normal. AMH .24. 12/19/11-Day 3 Ultrasound: 11 follicles. Referred to IVF RE.
Feb 2012-1st IVF: (w/Gonal-f pen, Repronex, Cetrotide, Human Growth Hormone, DHEA, and CoQ10), 2/3/12-Ultrasound: 9 Follicles, 2/16 ER: 6 eggs.2/19: 3 embryos transferred. Please stick! 3/4/12: BFP! Beta 285. 3/6/12: Beta #2 748!
4/11/12 U/S at 9w6d showed our little one died at 8w6d. 4/17/12 D&C

After 10 weeks of bedrest, our two little ladies joined us at 28w6d
I hope everything goes well for you. It was difficult the first time like everyone is saying, but once you get the hang of it, it's not such a big deal. I was on the Gonal F, ad Repronex which burned, then switched to Follistim and Menopur which didn't burn. The Ganarelix didn't burn either. I have to admit that now that we had the ER and ET I am on the progesterone oil shots since I triggered with Lupron and my DH has to give me those shots in the upper glute and that is more painful plus I have no control over it which rives me crazy, the end result is a small knot after a few days that is a bit sore but nothing i wouldn't do to try and have a little one.
Best of luck! Icing the area before you do the shots helps a little with the repronex burning.
